29 Oct 2013: What does it take?

10/29/2013

A lone man in the streets clothed in rags

Begging for food, wondering which would be his last

A life time of want and suffering

Are there any helping hands?

A widowed mother dying of disease

Leaving her children with little hope

The light fades at the end of the tunnel

Is there a comforter?

18 Oct 2013: WHERE ARE YOU LORD?

                                                                                            10/18/2013

We live in a world bound to sin

Changing the laws of nature, perverse in ways!

Your creation have you forgotten?

Are you unaware of the changing times?

We live self centered lives

Removing the very God of our creation from our schools and homes!

Where are your jealous dealings as in times past?

Is it that you have allowed darkness to prevail over light?

Our homes are destroyed , our children sold to captivity in sin

The knowledge of God far from their hearts.

Aren’t you the YAHWEH, the great deliverer?

Wouldn’t you set us free from everything that binds?

19 Sep 2009: Grace and grace alone!

09/19/2009

“Blessed is the soul that has learnt that it’s from and through and only by His grace, for it shall never stumble”.

In the journey of life many times we start small. In such places it’s easy to depend on God and put our trust in Him. However in the height of power and success, when everything is going well do we still recognize our miserable state apart from Him? Do we still put our trust and depend on Him for everything? It’s so easy to be led astray during such times and exalt oneself rather than the One who had led thus far.

We must cultivate the habit of walking and clothing ourselves in humility everyday to prevent that. One of the ways is remembering who we are and were apart from Christ. Paul towards the end of his journey of life had probably accomplished more than any of the other apostles. He was the father of many churches. He had written many epistles and was honored and respected by almost everyone. However, he did not let that get to him. In his epistle to Timothy (which was written in prison towards the end of his journey) he calls himself as the worst of all sinners. Paul knew who he was apart from the grace of God.

08 Sep 2009: Amazing grace!

09/08/2009
The soul searched for peace and rest in the dark. Troubling thoughts and painful memories; longing for the daylight and peace of mind. The night seemed to reflect the state of a soul that had lost hope. In the midst of the poignancy, memories of the past flashed through; broken relationships, trying circumstances and the dreaded thought of turning away from the one that truly loved. Things would never be the same, enough had been said and done and now it was all over.

Just some days back, everything had been fine. Jesus had ridden the donkey with even the children hailing him as king. He had healed the sick in the temple. He had talked about the coming kingdom. The expectancy was high and every aspiration to rule and reign with Him seemed to be coming true for Peter. Then all of a sudden, Christ was betrayed, crucified and killed. Peter had deserted Him with the rest. Judas was now dead and Peter was in the worst state of his life, having cursed and sworn to have never known the Master.

21 Aug 2009: Dying to live!

08/20/2009

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit”.

The eternal success of our endeavors lies in the life of Christ flowing from us to people. To walk in this life is an absolute necessity but a pathway not too easy.
One must first learn to die to his own self in order to discover this newness of life. For to proceed any other way is futile and does not bear fruit to eternity.

Elements of Modern Christendom sadly lack this life of (in) Christ, adapting  a way of living apart from the life of God, thereby deceiving oneself.

10 Jul 2009: Is your cross too heavy?

07/10/2009

The pathway down seemed steeper and steeper. A valley too deep to walk into? Against hope the soul gave in and said no more. “Whatever else Lord I will do; but, please not this!”

The journey of life often brings us to places where we cant walk further in our natural strength. It may also seem at times that the grace that sustained us thus far is no more.
In such times we can give in and take the long road back or strengthen ourselves in the Lord and move forward.

In that moment of great pain  a clear light shone on the blood stained footprints of the lamb. He had been there and had walked down that road. Strengthened that the Master had been through that road and knows the way ahead, the disciple followed.

19 Jun 2009: You can do nothing without Him!

06/19/2009
John 15:5 – “For without me, ye can do nothing.”

The journey of life at times brings us to the place, where we discover that our strength and our resources are far from sufficient to meet the impending challenges. In that moment of truth, the heart searches for an answer until we come face to face with the reality that we cannot go on further without Christ.
Though this lesson is often learnt in the crucibles of life, it is the underlying current of true Christian walk and thought. For without Him we can do nothing!

12 Jun 2009: Do you love Me?

 06/12/09

John 21:17 – He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me?”

The circumstances of life often test our devotion and love toward our Lord. In the midst of them is the still small voice “Do you love Me”?.
It’s easy to follow the Lord when all is well but in the darkest hour of the night amidst trying circumstances how do we respond to that question?

Simon had responded earlier by denying Him. He had followed the Lord all those years but never had been tested and tried. Everything he had set his hope on came crashing down in Gethsemane.
In that moment of great weakness, the wickedness of his heart was exposed. He denied the one who loved him and was set to die for him on the cross.

29 May 2009: O the presence of the Lord!

05/29/09

Psalms 16:11 – In your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for ever more.

To the weary traveler worn out by the heat of the day and the fatigue of a long journey, His presence is one that of a gentle breeze and a refreshing stream. “Come unto me all ye that labor and are weary and I will give you rest”.
To the prisoner in darkness not having seen the light, He sets him free by the light of His presence.
The afflicted, wound and hurting drink from His well and  are healed and restored. He pours oil to the wounds and the wine that restores my soul.
