Moses had set to fulfill God’s will for his life in his own strength. He soon found out that it is futile to strive in the flesh. In the wilderness that followed, he was stripped of all selfish ambition and pride that God may be all in all through him. Moses learnt that without God he can do nothing.
The place of recognition that Christ is all in all is the place of true strength and life. It is the place where God is totally pleased with every endeavor and effort. For only that which is done with and through Christ bears lasting fruit. For they that sow in the flesh reap accordingly but they that sow in the Spirit towards life eternal.
Christ Himself followed this eternal principle. He did not do anything unless He saw the Father do it. He testified that the Son can do nothing of Himself. In the days of His flesh He resisted the temptation to do things on His own but rather let the Father do it through Him. If the Son of God would do nothing of Himself, how much more should we who are weak and frail in the flesh?
Kathryn Khulman often used to quote this song;
“More of self and less of Thee
Some of self and more of Thee
None of self but all of Thee”
It’s to that place of total surrender the Spirit woos us. For, there is no life greater and joyful as the life that has Christ as its ultimate source for everything.
He who is in all things and holds all things together has chosen to wait on you to let Him be Lord of all.
“To deny oneself is to be aware only of Christ and no more of self, to see only Him who goes before and no more the road which is too hard for us.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
