Nicobar Day 4

We attended the church in Chowra at 7:00 am in the morning. The people came by the numbers from all the 5 villages on time except a handful. It left me with the thought on how a people so far from God can have His fear enough to be on time whereas we a people who know God and claim to be close to Him are careless about timing?

The worship was mundane with no life, the songs beautiful but lacking His presence. Along with quite a few people in the crowd was trying hard not to sleep, especially as we were given clergy seats in the front.

After service we were discussing the prospect of leaving to Katchal Islands and since the Island that we were currently in was isolated there are no ships scheduled for more than a week. Helicopter services are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday with room for only one each day. We decided that Pas.Adhikezavan will leave Monday to CarNicobar and i will leave the next day to Katchal. It was a risk of sorts as adverse weather is common in these parts , which could cancel the Heli and i would be stuck for more than a week then in Chowra by myself.

The prospect does not bother me as i want to gain a perspective on how it would have been for pioneer missionaries starting work in remote places! Also, since God is so real to me , i don’t mind being stranded in an Island alone as i would get to spend maximum time with Him alone from the business of life and schedules and burdens. At the end of the day it is what God wants.

Getting to know the head bishop more and our friendship seems to be growing!
In the afternnon we took a walk to the sea shore to see if we can get any signal on our phone to make contact with the rest of civilization but could not! It’s a couple of days now we had not made any contact.

However, the important part was we ended up praying for a group of workers and a Nicobari boy without parents. Sensed God’s love as we prayed and it was definitly worth the walk. Looking ahead to the Bible distribution in the evening and praying for the sick..

The evening was quite satisfying as Bibles were distributed to the children and i got the opportunity to pray for each of them and bless them. During and after prayer, i felt virtue had left me. God is certainly working here. A place closed to outsiders has opened its door to us and the truth of the gospel is slowly coming in but a major breakthough of sorts is needed, if put in perspective on how long these Islands have been closed.

As i look ahead to tommorow, uncertainity looms! Adhikez Pastor is worried about leaving me in a virtually unknown place without contact! Converstaion goes to and fro on what needs to be done but the inward confidence grows that i can do this alone. A confidence that comes from dependency on God knowing that He will make the way or supply the grace. God i submit to your will and let it be done!
