Over the centuries there have been many visitations of the Spirit. Great awakenings involving men and women who were empowered to prepare the way for the Spirit to manifest Himself in power. As precious and as blessed and as powerful those seasons were, they will all pale in comparison to the glory of God that is yet to be revealed!
Many saints were granted glimpses into this coming glory as they experienced parts and some measures of it in their times! They eagerly longed for and looked towards that in a manner similar to the prophets of old who looked forward towards the coming of Christ; seeking diligently to see and understand more clearly as they prophesied His birth; His life; His death, His resurrection and Pentecost!
In God’s appointed times; He removes the veils that have kept His secrets hidden ; that we may see and perceive and comprehend His ways and His workings. Even so as we approach the end of the days; He is granting His beloved to look beyond the veil before He removes it for many to perceive and see.
However, God does nothing, if His beloved don’t see and prophesy. It is that which prepares the way in the spirit and then later manifests in the natural. The word becomes flesh. It’s those words that we cry out to God based on! He answers in the fulness of times. The culmination of the prayers of His people resulted in the first coming of Christ and it is the culmination of the tears and the blood and the intercession of the saints that is going to open the floodgates of heaven like never before eventually leading to the maturing of the church and the coming of Christ as the king of kings and Lord of lords!
Tommy Hicks, the evangelist whom God used in the Argentinian revival, prophesied that one day the body of Christ all around the world will rise as one single army and function in a release of unprecedented power in prefect union with the head and with one another.
Smith Wigglesworth, the apostle of faith prophesied a time when ordinary people would go into hospitals carrying the power of God and empty them, as everyone would be healed.
John. G. Lake, a man who demonstrated the power of God to his generation like very few ever have in history, felt that he and his contemporaries hadn’t yet reached their full potential in Christ and lamented the same; desiring for God to rise a corporate group of believers functioning in greater power but at the same time accomplishing all of God’s purposes, some of which they hadn’t seen come to pass in their times.
It’s not just men and women who lived after the apostles who saw these times, but the prophets and apostles were also granted a glimpse into it, which we see in scriptures.
Acts 3:19-20 (New International Version) 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
We see Peter foretelling after Pentecost that there would be times of refreshing/renewal/restoration before the coming of Christ. I believe we are in those times of renewal and just before the restoration of all things in His body.
James 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.
Again, we see James urging believers to wait for the former and the later rain (in the same month) before the coming of the Lord. He is referring to a quick work of the Lord, resulting in a great harvest and a maturity in believers before the coming of Christ. We have witnessed some measures of it in our times but will get to be part of the full measure of it soon.
Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The context of this passage is that creation is under bondage, and it is waiting for the day when we would be free that it might be free! Although i believe we will see the fullest measures of it after Christ’s return. We will experience a great measure of that in the glory that is about to be revealed and the signs of that would be creative miracles; creative ideas not known before in the different spheres of influence God has put His saints in and authority and power over nature; resulting in great signs and wonders.
Zechariah 2: 10 “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. 11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.
This passage talks about nations coming to Christ and again the reference is to His coming. There was a fulfillment of it when Christ came and in Pentecost; there has been progressive fulfillment of this word over the years and there will be culminative fulfillment of this prophecy before the second coming of Christ as the manifestation of God’s power will bring entire ethnic groups to the Lord.
There are several more prophecies in the Old Testament that allude to the glory that is about to be revealed which we will look into if time permits but the main purpose of these above passages is to show that this truth is based on scriptures.
If so, then how do we prepare for or speed up the process to get there? It is simple; we need to know what God intends to accomplish through the glory that would be revealed and align ourselves with His purposes. We need to start to fulfill them and simply keep moving forward in those purposes. For it is the pathway that would lead us there. In the next few articles, we will look to understand God’s purposes in those times.

If the outpouring at Pentecost marked the time of the beginning and the foundations of the church being laid; the coming glory would be the time of the completion and the maturing of the church.
