Of whom the world was not worthy – Hebrews 11:38
The greatest missionary who ever walked on this earth as a man was the living God the creator and possessor of the heavens and the earth! He freely gave everything away for us and Himself on the cross!!
As the creator and possessor of all things hung on the cross, hungry ,thirsty, naked , hurting all over and rejected by all, love was revealed to its fullness! The sacrifice of The son, His life and His descent from heaven changed the course of human history and the nature of man! God had done the utmost, now it was man’s turn to return His love in the least way possible!!
His love on Calvary, pierced hearts, softened the most hardened, reached into the depths of man’s soul, turned selfishness into selflessness inspiring many to walk His footsteps!!
Who is a missionary, what is his work?? Isn’t he someone who has EXPERIENCED this sacrificial Love? Isn’t He someone who has sold himself as a bond slave to this Love? Isn’t he someone who has died before ever starting to live for Christ??? Isn’t he someone who expresses this love to the needy poor and hurting?
All through the centuries men and women inspired by this endless love undertook great risks and hardships, many a time laying down their own lives for His sake and His purposes!! Peter, John, James, Andrew … of whom the world was not worthy: Thomas who came to India and laid down his life for His Lord and His God!
The journey of men and women inspired by God’s love did not stop as in each generation those who came to the foot of the cross were inspired to carry their own!! Jim Elliot, Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, William Booth, William Carey, Zigan Balg .. of whom the world was not worthy!!
Yet they stand as bright stars today still shining the light of Calvary’s love even after they have passed on from us !!
The eternal love of God was and is and always will sound over the centuries and to every generation!! It is still fresh and real if we can tune our ears and turn our eyes to the love from cavalry! Dear believer /soul have you experienced that life changing love, has it pierced your core, has it transformed you enough to be willing to lay all for Him??
This generation is fast on the pathway to destruction and You MUST arise with the Master’s love and His burden?? The world is waiting for Christ revealed through you, through the church, His body!!
Won’t you live in eternity’s light, won’t you give your all, and wont you answer Love’s call for the lost? An eternal ,perfect loving Father is waiting on you!!!
